In our day-to-day lives, we have become witnesses to consumers using their voices and dollar votes to turn the tides, successfully bringing up sustainability conversations in the fashion industry. A pocketful of fashion brands who are just now creating sustainable clothing lines constantly pop-up in our news feeds.
At Indosole, sustainability has been our very beginning.
Minimal use of water is one of the defining characteristics of sustainable products, being the most indispensable resource in order for life to exist. We at Indosole greatly treasure it and use it with respect. So as to use significantly less water in our production line, we utilise a special material called enviro fibre in all our flip flops, slides and cross uppers.
Only being used by 4 brands in the world so far, this unique textile is derived by regenerating natural materials into a usable form. Coupled with this natural material, we also upcycle end-of-life tires to incorporate them into our footwear.
In fact, we have intercepted over 100,000 tires from ending up in the landfills.
Mimicking nature, our lab scientists experimented with destroying the existing tire to rebuild the rubber from scratch. Through this process we developed our very own Sole Engineered Tire Technology (SETT), which pulverizes the tires into a fine powder and resets it with natural and recycled rubber. This malleable tire gel is then moulded into our signature tire outsoles.
