What is Riverfoam, and how is this case made from it?

Riverfoam is a material created by Sungai Design — the for-profit manufacturing arm of Sungai Watch, the nonprofit that cleans up Bali’s rivers. Sungai Watch removes trash (sandals included) from the water, and Sungai Design combines that recovered material with Indosole’s own manufacturing offcuts and defective sandal pairs to create Riverfoam. So every case comes from two waste streams at once: river-recovered material and factory rejects that would otherwise be thrown out.

Will this protect my sunglasses from scratches and everyday knocks?

Yes — the Riverfoam shell cushions against scratches, dust, and general bumps in a bag. It’s a soft case rather than a rigid hard-shell, and it has an open-top with no fastening but we find the glasses don't easily slip out due to the nature of the rubber providing grip.

Is it actually waterproof — can I take it to the beach or pool?

Yes, the shell itself is waterproof, so it holds up to splashes, humidity, and sandy days out. We’d still avoid fully submerging it or leaving it soaking, the same way we care for our sandal soles.
