Indosole founder Kyle Parsons was featured in Honeycombers Bali — one of Southeast Asia's most trusted lifestyle publications — as part of their Good Business series, in partnership with the Launchpad podcast hosted by Chris Edwards.
Published in May 2023, the interview covers the full arc of Indosole's story: from the blown-out flip flop in Seminyak in 2004 that started everything, through to the brand's evolution into a B Corp certified footwear company manufacturing 10,000 pairs a day and selling through major retailers including Madewell, Urban Outfitters and General Pants.
Parsons speaks candidly about navigating the pandemic as a small brand with big-brand values, the importance of partnerships over competition, and why transparency in manufacturing — showing how tires are pulverised, what materials are used, and how they're screened — is central to Indosole's marketing approach.
On what drives the brand, he's direct: "We're environmentalists first, and business people second."
And on Indosole's broader ambition: "In addition to a sandal brand, we think of ourselves primarily as a solutions company. So our job is to sell sandals but even more so, creating a mindset or contributing towards a consumer's mindset of shopping more consciously."
The interview also touches on Indosole's collaborations with Sungai Watch and Pable — two of the brand's closest partners in the circular economy space — and Parsons' personal mantra: "Be watchful, because the things around you can always be reused into something else."
Honeycombers Bali is read by millions of travellers, expats and residents across Bali, Singapore and Hong Kong — making this a meaningful piece of coverage for a brand whose roots are in Bali and whose Singapore presence continues to grow.
